Who I am as a teacher:

a) My teaching philosophy

I am convinced that all human beings have the capacity to learn, and we are always in search of knowledge, however, there must be a motivation for this superior metal process to take place.

the teaching-learning process is seen only as the transmission and acquisition of knowledge from the teacher to the student, this requires a set of variables such as: the motivation of the student, the methodologies used by teachers, appropriate materials that support the lessions , among others.

c) What I learned about teaching speaking skills.

To improve speech skills, it is necessary to be exposed to language, that is, to have direct contact with another speaker, to participate in conversations of everyday situations, to have the need to communicate in a second language. For this reason, teachers must provide the possibility for these situations to occur. In the beginning you can leave the grammar aside and give greater relevance to the communicative intention, then gradually go balancing it.

perhaps the biggest obstacle faced by the apprentices of a new language, especially when speaking is within themselves, since sometimes they feel invaded by insecurity and shame. For this reason, in addition to knowledge, grammar vocabulary and other aspects of the language, students must rely on themselves.

While it is important to have the talent to master any skill, the essential thing is the determination that each person has to face that process. Improving speech skills is not a process of a few days, on the contrary it is a constant process that requires time and dedication. The only way to improve any skill is by practicing it.

d) What I learned about teaching in online environments.

While online learning environments provide students and teachers with the opportunity to access them from anywhere, it is necessary for the teacher to possess material design knowledge in such virtual environments, so that the teaching process becomes more dynamic.

e) My principles about teaching speaking online (at least 5)

  • The teaching resources elaborated or chosen, must take into account the needs of the students and aim at the main objective of the Lesson.

  • It is necessary that the activities be motivating for the students, and give them the opportunity to participate in their planning.

  • Teaching must be a process of continuous reflection among all participants (students and teachers).

  • the methodologies used must be flexible, not all activities work for all students. Since each one has different abilities, needs and interests.
  • It is necessary have a plan B in case things do not happen as planned, anticipating possible difficulties and thinking about possible solutions.
